Archery Team Recognized With Ceremony

On Sep. 22, the Sarcoxie Elite Archery Team was recognized for their success during the 2017 season. 
Major accomplishments for 2017 include:

High School Bullseye State Champions
Middle School Bullseye State Champions
High School 3D State Champions
Middle School 3D State Champions
High School Bullseye National Champions and Overall Top Team
Middle School 3D National Champions
High School 3D World Champions

Sarcoxie archers were awarded a total of $218,100 of college scholarship money.

When the team won the highly-prized NASP National Championship, Sarcoxie became the smallest school to ever win the national title at the largest archery tournament in the world.  In addition, they broke the record for the highest team score ever shot.  Along with this accomplishment, the team won a $24,000 team scholarship, which awards a $1,000 scholarship to all 24 archers. In addition, every team member received a national championship ring, which they were presented with during a half-time ring ceremony of the Sep. 22 homecoming football game.

Public figures and representatives that were present to congratulate the team were:  State Senator Ron Richards, President Pro Tem of the MO Senate; Rep. Mike Kelley, Missouri House of Representatives;  Eric Edwards, Missouri Dept. of Conservation MoNASP State Coordinator, Warren Rose, MDC Outreach and Education Regional Supervisor, and Andy Rhoades, MDC Area Outdoor Skills Specialist.
